Report by Aimie-Sarah Carstensen
Aimie-Sarah Carstensen participated in TMB in 2012 and is now working as Business Development Manager at Medienfabrik Gütersloh, an arvato company.
Talent Meets Bertelsmann (TMB) was one of the most impressive events I participated in during my studies. The event was perfectly organized and gave me the chance to get to know the corporate divisions of Bertelsmann in a unique way. The possibility to communicate with Bertelsmann-Experts, including the top-management, in a casual atmosphere was revealing and informative.
The creative tasks on the first day with the aim to get to know your team was lots of fun and a great opportunity to prepare for the workshops on the second day. I was fortunate to work in a great team with interesting and talented students. We developed a new smart phone -only publication called “Buzy Lady” for Gruner + Jahr and presented it to the board. Although it was very challenging, we had great fun. We reached the second place and were rewarded with a trip to Hamburg at Gruner + Jahr. Another highlight was of course the great TMB-Party after the award ceremony with a live concert of Adel Tawil.
What happened afterwards:
One day after TMB I took the train to Slovenia, where I attended a Summer University in Ljubljana and subsequently finished my master. Incidentally, I have worked in a large media company as a student trainee. After my Masters I directly worked as a Project Manager in the field of digitalisation of a German newspaper.
What I’m doing now:
I 've never lost contact to Bertelsmann and since the beginning of this year, I am working as a Business Development Manager at embrace – a division of the Medienfabrik in Gütersloh, an arvato company and therewith a part of Bertelsmann. We operate in the division of ventures, especially in the field of HR Communication, Employer Branding and Career Networks. I work on a variety of projects which the company and especially the career networks evolve. Currently my main focus is the development of the network for students "careerloft" and our new platform for pupils "blicksta".
TMB was a unique experience and - if possible - I would participate at this great event every year. The team spirit was incredible and the insights were really informative. Last but not least I had the chance to connect with interesting talents, to build friendships and to get to know the international media-company Bertelsmann.
