Talent Meets Bertelsmann (TMB) is much more than just a recruiting event, it really IS a networking extravaganza. Everything from the application process to the follow-up was organized perfectly and I had the chance to get to know various people from all divisions of Bertelsmann up to the top management level. We worked on real business cases and were therefore able to truly deepen our knowledge on the Bertelsmann divisions and the respective industries. Not only was the networking with experts in the field unique but also the other participants from all over the world made a lasting impression on me.
On the first day, Bertelsmann asked us to work on a creative task, which was a lot of fun and a great opportunity to get to know our team members. The next day, we were given an assignment for Stylehaul – a RTL Group company. Our team then developed a social video eCommerce platform called “Style.me” which monetized Stylehaul’s video content by integrating its vloggers to an eCommerce platform. Our team spirit was excellent. I was impressed with the variety of backgrounds, skills and nationalities within our group and I loved working with such talented and interesting people. Though we worked really hard, we had a lot of fun and we still keep in contact.
Our efforts were also rewarded, as we won the second prize during the award ceremony, which Thomas Rabe closed. The following party and live concert was another highlight. And I haven’t even mentioned our Runner-up trip to Madrid yet…
What happened afterwards:
After TMB, I finished my master’s degree at the University of Amsterdam and then took off to Asia to travel and get to know different cultures (and different kinds of stomach flus). During that time, Bertelsmann’s HR department kept in touch with me. Nico Rose then posted a job opening in our TMB Facebook group, which is the position I work in today.
What I’m doing now:
My TMB story ends with me working as Associate in the strategy department for Bertelsmann Corporate Network in the Corporate Center. Our mission is to initiate and coordinate cooperation within Bertelsmann, thereby leveraging the potential within Bertelsmann’s decentralized corporate structure and supporting the implementation of our group strategy. We operate internationally and across all divisions. So far every day, I am happy to have the chance to interact with different cultures and to get to know various Bertelsmann companies and fascinating people”.
TMB was a unique experience to me. I was able to connect to interesting, international people and experts, get to know one of the biggest media corporations worldwide and actually find my next professional challenge. If I could, I would do it again.
